20 years of independence. Strategic goals.

Tajik people celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan's independence this year.

This celebration is a reflection of all the achievements in 20 years of independence in all spheres of life.

It’s been 20 years that a "golden crown" of the sovereign state of Tajikistan shines a bright light through the independence and life takes on a new meaning with each passing day approving security in our homes, towns and villages. Beautiful green valleys and highest peaks of the Tajik mountains are illuminated by the rays of independence.

As the Head of the Republic of Tajikistan mentioned in his TV congratulation message in honor of the 19th anniversary of National Independence: " Tajikistan at this time is like a young, impetuous, energetic, strong, healthy and purposeful young man, with double diligence involved in creation in order to meet their 20-year maturity with decent success."

Emomali Rahmon called independence as "the most sacred and precious gift, the main attribute of a free State, the symbol of honor, patriotism, the guarantor of prosperous life, pride, and endless energy of our daily lives."

It should be noted that it is the independence, peace, stability and national unity that have identified priorities and main directions of domestic and foreign policies of our sovereign state.

They are implemented within the framework of three strategic goals: ensuring energy independence of the state, the country's withdrawal from communication deadlock and protection of food security for the people.

According to Emomali Rahmon, "Today, at a time when in spite of the difficulties and obstacles the sovereignty of Tajikistan is strengthening year after year, we are deeply convinced that with construction of hydroelectric power and communication facilities, the development of national industry, agriculture and industrial processing of local raw materials, we can achieve our ultimate goal, a decent standard of living and quality of the people’s life in the country."

The policy of "open doors"

The independence moved Tajikistan closer to the world community and made the international community closer to Tajikistan. The policy of "open doors" and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation increased the authority of Tajikistan's image in the world.

Moreover, only in recent decades, the mutually beneficial cooperation of Tajikistan with many countries of the world, influential international organizations and international financial institutions has created a solid basis for raising the status of our independent state in the international arena.

United Nations responded to the offer of Tajikistan, which was supported by other countries celebrating the vernal equinox - Navruz, and recognized this as an international holiday.

In addition, UNESCO included the historic monument of Sarazm in the list of rare historical and cultural monuments of ancient culture. These are all prime examples of recognition and respect for ancient literature and culture of Tajiks and the recognition of more than 5 thousand years of history and the status of the new Tajikistan among other countries.

This is a reassuring fruit of independence, an atmosphere of peace and unity, peace and friendly relations and fruitful cooperation and recognition of the place of an independent state in the world.

The language of each nation is an important, inseparable and integral part of its national culture, a reflection of its civilization and statehood. Thus, Emomali Rahmon stresses in each of his speeches that the respect of the state language is a sign of respect for the nation, the state, as well as their ancestors.

Due to the constant care and aspirations of the Head of the country Emomali Rahmon, Tajik language takes on a new meaning and develops not only in Tajikistan but also sounds from the stands of authoritative international organizations, introducing the world community with the sovereign, civilized Tajik people.

Energy Independence

Construction of small and large hydropower stations is one of the priorities and strategies, internal policies of the Tajikistan. In this regard, the President is constantly striving to develop and expand the construction industry in order to quickly achieve energy independence.

At the ceremony of commencement of the construction of the hydropower stations "Sangtuda-2" the President of Tajikistan said that the Government of Tajikistan constantly develops hydropower industry of the country and will annually allocate some funds for implementation of projects in this area.

It should be noted that to date the main and auxiliary facilities of hydropower station constructions of over $ 1 billion somoni (equivalent to U.S. $ 225 million) are joint investments by the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Tajikistan and have 90% of completed construction work, as well as works ongoing on high temps in installation of hydro-mechanical equipment.

Also concrete, reinforced concrete, testing and design, drilling and blasting operations, the connection of input and output gates for the building of the dam are in the stage of completion.

"Sangtuda-2" with a capacity of 220 megawatts will be built by experienced experts of the two countries on joint investments of Tajikistan and Iran.

...Tajikistan highly appreciates the level of relationships between out two countries and intends to make all required efforts for the development of high potential of Tajik-German mutually beneficial cooperation.
